Celebrating 50 years of Vanguard…
and looking to the future

An immersive celebration at Frameless London - not your average corporate get together.

It’s been 50 years since Vanguard was born. So a serious celebration was in order. They were planning on taking over Frameless – an immersive digital gallery – and that needed branding.

So it was goodbye to preconceptions of typical client conferences, and hello to an immersive world in 360°.

A visual identity with graphic device from the V and A was created, supporting the idea of forward movement into tomorrow. Then multi-wall (and ceiling and floor) films set the scene for expert speakers tackling complex subjects employing Frameless’s unique spaces to best advantage, with the rooms dazzling hundreds of advisers. A manifesto film reflected Vanguard’s heritage, and building excitement at its future – using the success of the last 50 years to propel the next 50, while an animated timeline room featured highlights from their history.

All was brought to life in glorious 360° – leaving attendees wide-eyed and open-mouthed. And importantly, inspired to move forward, together creating success for Vanguard for the next 50 years

So what did I do?

As the lead art director on this project, I worked with my fellow creative team members on the branding and the visual identity - something that worked dynamically in the space. Next up was storyboarding and concepting for the films and footage for the rooms - including themed breakout rooms (with the sky full of Vanguard V stars a nod to Olafur Eliasson’s Sun project at the Tate where we brought nature into an indoor 360 degree space).

There was a good deal of collaboration with the client too, to understand and bring to life their view on the past 50 years and the next 50, and the positive results made this a fulfilling project.
