Don’t Trump
What started off as an in-agency bit of fun, went global and struck a chord with millions. Unfortunately not the millions who had the power to make a decision that is still changing the world.
Way back in those innocent days of 2016, I took part in an inter agency competition to come up with a spec ad for the US Election. My simple little Economist-flavoured poster was the winner! Shared online, a few likes, everyone very happy.
Then something odd happened.
It was mistaken on Twitter for and Economist ad (very flattering!).
Then shared globally, UK, US, Asia, Europe (where it appeared to “enflamme the web”).
It took off everywhere, winning awards in Design Week, The One Show and the inaugural US Chip Shop Awards which was very apt. It also won the agency the Oystercatchers self promotion award (for a simple idea for a complicated world) which led to a fair bit of new business.
The fun of creativity and a simple idea!
We still haven’t got rid of him though.
