Design for a limited edition bottle.
¡Salud!
A collage design for a limited edition bottle of Tio Pepe sherry from Bodegas Gonzalez Byass in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. A competition open internationally to design a limited edition bottle for one of Spain’s iconic brands.
Sherry is no longer the cheeky tipple that gran would knock back during the Bond film on Christmas day. I mean, she still might and all power to her, as it is an often under-appreciated wine, with many different types, the driest being ‘fino’.
Now anybody who has drank fino brand ‘Tio Pepe’ on a scorching hot day in Jerez de la Frontera, will tell you this is the driest of dry wines. And that’s all down to the straw coloured palomino grape that grows in the chalky albarizo soil around Jerez. Colours I used in my design.
I then used collage of photographs I took of the Alcazar, Cathedral and the Gonzalez Byass wine bodega with its distinctive (and world’s largest!) weather vane that sits high above the city with the iconic Tio Pepe design. I sourced some old illustrations of grapes and used them to lift a woman up, up and away, through the fino coloured sky, and all arranged to fit within the bottle template.
A few glasses on a sunny day in this sultry city and you are floating (its 15% after all).
